Montreal, November 13, 2014 - It is with great pride that BOMA Québec awarded the first Canadian BOMA BESt® Health Care certificates to three local health care facilities. The "Health Care" module is a Quebec initiative. It was designed to meet the specific environmental challenges of the health care sector and was launched by BOMA Canada last August.
In addition, a record number of property managers took to the stage to receive BOMA Best® certificates for commercial buildings. The number of certified properties has been growing steadily in Quebec since the inception of the environmental program in 2005. BOMA Best® is a unique, voluntary, national program designed to assess environmental performance and management of existing buildings. The award ceremony took place last night at the KPMG Tower at 600 de Maisonneuve Blvd West, itself designated BOMA Best® Level 2 last April.
The BOMA Best® (Building Environmental Standards) program is the largest environmental assessment and certification program for existing buildings in Canada. Major institutional managers such as the Société québécoise des infrastructures certify buildings under their control because the program guarantees the rigorous management of air, energy, waste, as well as preventive maintenance. An independent expert determines at which level a property will be certified, depending on the score it obtains following an inspection. The program's goal is to "create a sustainable environment, one building at a time."

About BOMA Québec
BOMA Quebec (boma-quebec.org) is the largest association of commercial property owners and managers in Quebec. Its members own or manage more than 85% of Class A office buildings in the province. A leader in the field since its founding in 1927, BOMA Quebec has developed a reputation for excellence in property management through the services it offers, and for increasing the value of commercial real estate assets. For BOMA Quebec, those assets consist not only of the material aspects of a building, but also immaterial aspects such as the quality of the management team, tenant profile and architectural style.
