Influencing, when you need to get results but have no direct authority, is possible but difficult. The good news is that it can be learned!
Many professionals in organizations don't have the hierarchical authority to make decisions or issue orders. Employees working on multi-stakeholder projects often report to bosses elsewhere on the organizational chart. On paper, perhaps, those structures seem to work. In reality, however, this is not always the case. That's where influential leadership skills come in!
A key talent of effective leaders is the ability to influence their entourage so as to achieve favorable and unifying results, whatever their position or status. The ability to influence effectively is thus becoming an important leadership skill for a new generation of leaders.
The discussion of this topic promises to be very interesting and, we hope, quite enriching. The discussion be followed by a networking cocktail reception. Appetizers will be served.*
Our guest speaker:
Sylvie Thiffault is a writer, company director and communications specialist who has been teaching at the École de technologie supérieure for the past 10 years.
