After the annual general meeting and the year-end review, spring is always an opportunity for the Board of Directors and the Chairs of BOMA Quebec's eleven working committees to look to the future, to determine the major priorities that will guide our actions in the weeks and months ahead. On June 5 we got together for an intense day of reflection and discussion.
Our efforts remain focused on two major issues of importance for BOMA Quebec: ESG factors and innovation in practices.
ESG
The energy transition of buildings in Quebec, which will accelerate as new regulatory requirements come into force and ESG factors are integrated into future policies, will have a direct impact on building management. ESG (environmental, social and governance investment) are three letters that are on everyone's lips, but in concrete terms, how can we actively support our members and help them incorporate an ESG approach into building management so as to mitigate risk and support long-term value creation?
A special committee was created a few months ago to determine our objectives and the actions to be taken in that regard. A tool box that includes presentations and training sessions is being prepared to help us adapt to this new reality and to adopt ESG measures that are suited to the specific context of building management. Subscribe to BOMA Info and consult the events section of our website on a regular basis to stay abreast of our publications on this matter.
We keep a close eye on government policies, informing members of any upcoming regulatory requirements. Once again, our newsletter is a convenient way of getting the latest updates.
You will also find in this issue information on BOMA BEST 4.0 certification, as the program has been updated and revamped. Be sure to read the article.
In Creative Mode
The changing world of work, and our collective values and lifestyles, were topics that sparked lively discussions at our strategy meeting. We're only at the beginning of a journey that, let's face it, will undoubtedly be long and full of challenges. It will take many more years for us to adapt our workspaces to this trend. And since there are as many creative approaches as there are challenges and contexts, we've come up with the idea of creating a new showcase for creative initiatives implemented by various parties in the commercial real estate industry in Quebec, across Canada and elsewhere.
This will take a variety of forms, including presentations on future trends and spotlighting dynamic managers who have successfully met the challenge of transforming their workspaces.
We are also discussing the possibility of organizing more networking events during the 2023-24 season so that we all have more time to relax and chat with our colleagues. For, apart from the pleasure of seeing each other, there's no shortage of subjects to discuss.
Reminder - BOMA Quebec summer activities!
